Job Interview Thank You Email Templates [Download]

“I can’t hire that person...they never sent a thank you note.” I remember hearing a former boss say this and being so surprised. Her thinking was if they didn't write a thank you note that hey didn't care enough about the job.

Like one of my former bosses, many hiring managers actually have a policy of crossing candidates off their list who don’t send a thank-you note after a job interview.

When you think about it, sending a thank you email shouldn't make or break extending an offer to a good candidate, but it certainly doesn't hurt!

For starters, some hiring managers feel it shows good manners and weeds out any people who were just not that interested in the job. It can also help seal the deal on getting a job offer. For example, it gives you the chance to get your name in front of the hiring manager one more time. After all, they might be meeting with several candidates.

Another reason to keep in mind is that sending a thank you note gives the hiring manager one more opportunity to ask you any follow-up questions to help make her decision.

Most importantly, sending a thank you email gives you the chance to demonstrate once more your value once more and that you’re truly interested in the job. The hiring manager wants to know you’re excited about it. They want reassurance you’re truly interested.

To help you get started, I've put together some dos and don'ts when it comes to writing one...

Thank You Note Dos and Dont’s
